Amazon Is Pulling Hoverboards Due To Safety Concerns

Hot Wheels: A Whole New Level

Amid Airline concerns about so called “Hoverboards” catching fire, Amazon is now joining the side of caution as it begins to pull certain models due to safety concerns.

One of the bigger suppliers Swagway spoke out about the issue to the Verge stating:

—–

“Amazon just sent out a notice to all “hoverboard” sellers to “provide documentation demonstrating that all hoverboards…are compliant with applicable safety standards…

Swagway already meets all those certifications and is happy that Amazon has decided to take steps to weed out the low quality boards… We’re glad that this is taking place, especially in light of recent concerns with the fires with the poor quality batteries.”

Whilst Swagway look to be in the clear due to their safety regulations and testing, some of their competitors could be less fortunate, such as Phunkeeduck.

Amazon aren’t the only retailer concerned; Overstock.com announced this week
that it would stop selling the boards amid safety concerns.

Whilst it’s obviously great that companies are looking into more stringent guidelines for these boards, they’re going to have a pretty tough time distinguishing between them! As we’re sure you’ve noticed, the Hoverboard market is made up of very similar models and a great deal of companies have little to no back history. This is going to make it extremely difficult to determine which brands are offering safe, reliable products and which could be fire hazards on wheels.

However, Amazon’s regulations are sure to help us determine the safe from the risky and for that, we thank you!
