Brightstar moves to redefine mobile device customer service with WeFix acquisition

Brightstar, the world’s leading provider of end-to-end device lifecycle management solutions, has strengthened its service portfolio with the acquisition of a majority stake in WeFix, the UK’s number one ‘we come to you’ manufacturer-approved smartphone and tablet repairer.

WeFix serves the growing demand for convenient, rapid smartphone and tablet repairs through its fleet of 73 mobile workshops providing 94% coverage of the UK population. The acquisition by Brightstar creates synergies and new experiences for its device protection and after-sales service customers.

Brightstar CEO Rod Millar explained, “The acquisition of WeFix provides a key strategic differentiator for Brightstar’s device protection business, augmenting service offering, choice, response time and convenience, whist strengthening Brighstar’s customer relationships.”

Created (as Reviveaphone) in 2012 by entrepreneur Oliver Murphy, Dragons’ Den seed capital was used to grow the start-up, which was acquired by business incubator Ridown Group in 2017. After a substantial investment in both people and processes, the operation rebranded as WeFix.

In 2018 WeFix became the first – and only – manufacturer-approved mobile smartphone and tablet repairer when it entered into an exclusive agreement with Samsung to provide in and out-of-warranty device repairs to its UK customers.

WeFix CEO Aaron Brown commented, “The WeFix operation is designed exclusively to provide the very best customer service – Brightstar recognises this, as does Samsung.

Together we’ll be able to deliver a customer experience like never before, with every aspect of in-life device support covered.”

Brightstar plans to increase WeFix’s UK fleet to up to 150 mobile workshops by the end of 2020, whilst introducing the WeFix service to countries in mainland Europe, also Canada and North America by the end of 2022.

WeFix is the smart, flexible way to repair a smartphone or tablet. WeFix is also offering a completely contact-free service allowing consumers and business users to get quickly re-connected to their device even during the Covid-19 disruptions. Additional measures have been put in place so there is no customer contact and all devices are thoroughly sanitised before they are returned to the customer.
